Things I should have bet on - #1 in a series

Joss Whedon is no longer connected with the Wonder Woman movie

Fortunately Russ Meyer is no longer available.

Mixed feelings on this. I like Joss. But Joss Whedon writes like Jack Nicholsen* acts.

I wonder if Sam Raimi would be good for it? He had a lot to do with Xena, didn't he? And of course Spiderman.

*Except for "One Flew over the Cuckoo's Nest"

But Joss Whedon writes like Jack Nicholson* acts.

I think that's a very valid point, in that they've both constructed "brands" for themselves so there's a consistency between their performances, that suits their audience more than the surrounding work itself.

I would like to see a feminist (or rather female empowerment) version of "Wonder Woman", but if they haven't managed to accomplish that in the comics they're unlikely (and probably unwilling) to do it in a Hollywood film.

That being said, the animated Justice League managed it without turning her into a cross-dressing Superman (which I what I feared Joss' approach would be.)

I think she's the hardest of the DC triumvirate to make work consistently because her origins are so mired in her creator's sexual pathology.

I've not seen the animated Justice League, more's the pitty.

That can be rectified ;)
