Both murasaki_1966 and I were sent e-mails similar to the following:

Fortunately our virus checker removed the attachments (not that we were going to open them anyway) but it did strike me (as it hit both of us at once) that a mutual friend (or friends) of ours was/were not so lucky.

If you're after an antivirus program but don't want to pay the big bucks, may I recommend AVG? It's free, and automatically updates. I've found it better than Macafee's anti-virus crap (which I refuse to link to, even though I paid for it)

We use Vet, after an unfortunate experience with McAfee (and Nortons is said to be dire as well). Vet isn't free, and I can't really compare it with anything else, but it does the job.

Are you sure it came from a mutual friend?

I think it really DID come from the CIA in an effort to bring you down.

The CIA are supposed to be catching Osama Bin Laden, not annoying us. And in any case, would they have any clout in Australia? they have to see extradiction or just steal us (like Alias).
