Beware the Creeper!

Iain's life as a psychotic crimefighter

I wasn't expecting this!

Can we build a National Broadband Network?

Yes We Can!

Mind you - it does allow Chairman Kev to insert filtering technology at the infrastructure level.

(and, well, it may not be built at all...)

I'll believe it when I can use it, and it doesn't cost a fortune.....

What it will do, given their parallel agenda of increased censorship, is shut down criticism of the Internet filter slowing down speeds, as the Network will actually increase them manifold. But, as Murasaki points out, at a greater cost. I'm not paying two hundred a month for a service that delivers Godzilla into my living room and cleans up the mess.

It will be good for country folk though - and they're used to paying a premium for everything.

Remember that the two hundred dollar a month figure was pulled out of a competitor's arse.

The filtering is a problem though. I still feel stupidly optimistic that Conroy won't be able to get it to work, but it's Rudd's agenda so may be inserted into the broadband backbone (still it would give the other ISPs a point of difference as they could still run unfiltered ADSL.)
